Redcar Boxing Club are based in the Chatham Memorial Hall in the heart of Redcar. The hall was built in the early twentieth century, with the Boxing Club being housed in a side annex. Whilst the footprint works in terms of the boxing ring, the Club’s changing facilities were limited and there is a considerable amount of underused and awkward spaces. The roof comprises of a single glazed pyramid structure, with the annex being either freezing cold or boiling hot.We have been working with Sports England to develop a feasibility study to maximise the available space so that new facilities could be inserted along with space for other exercise and training activities to happen alongside the boxing ring. The study also looks into improving the thermal performance of the building and improving the external appearance of the annex.
